With Deepest Sympathy and Support for Our Community

We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of two brave firefighters whose lives were taken in the line of duty. Their courage, dedication, and service to our community will never be forgotten. We extend our deepest condolences to their families, colleagues, and all who are grieving during this unimaginable time.

In the face of such loss, it is normal to feel overwhelmed, angry, confused, or deeply sorrowful. Grief affects us all differently, and support is available. We encourage anyone struggling to reach out—for yourself or someone you care about.

Please know that you are not alone. Local mental health and crisis services are here to help:

  • Dial 988 – The Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7

  • North Idaho Crisis Center – 2195 Ironwood Ct, Coeur d’Alene – Walk-in support available

  • PFA: When Terrible Things Happen – What You May Experience—Also part of the Psychological First Aid (PFA) Field Operations Guide, this handout identifies common reactions to disasters and other extremely adverse events and suggests a wide range of steps people can take to improve well-being and enhance resilience.

Let us come together in compassion and strength as we honor the memory of these heroes and support one another through this time of sorrow.

With sympathy and solidarity,
The Region One Behavioral Health Board Members
